Crave the Unusual

Published May 23, 2012 by LoveGurus

People crave the unusual.

Doing something new raises your interest level and lets you see your “date” in a new light.

Always be on the lookout for new possibilities.

  • Keep your eye on the newspaper or a magazine for new and fun things happening.
  • Check websites on your favorite subjects to see events that might be coming up.
  • Check your local (or a couple cities away) Visitors Bureau or Chamber of Commerce for events.
  • Drop the Yellow Pages on the floor and see what page opens, then choose an idea (plumbing assistant?)
  • If you love a particular sport, contact a sports shop to see if they may know events you can attend.

BTW, be sure to choose activities that allow for conversation too!

Video Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger Hunt VIDEO

Each team (or person if a long distance relationship) has a video camera and a list of scenarios to get footage of – for example: Interview a complete stranger about something random, find a random stranger and greet them like an old friend, pretend to know them from somewhere, interview a dog, order 20 vente coffees in Spanish (it’s bente vente),  try on clothing for the opposite sex. This can be alot of fun, especially when you watch each other’s videos.

Mystery Date

 THE MYSTERY DATE

One of the most enlightening dates I have been on is when we played role reversal.

I had to plan the date, drive the car, open the car door, open the door to the restaurant, talk to the waiter, decide what wine to order, order the meal for my honey, (without his input) and make conversation like this was our first date.

Wow! I did not know what it was like to be on the other side of the fence. Then I paid for the meal, opened the car door for my honey, and then drove him home and tried to get a kiss while he played hard to get. He said, “I do not kiss on the first date.”

So, take it as far as you want that keeps it fun and interesting, while respecting each other completely.

Kiss ‘n Snap

Spend the day getting to know each other and your lips better! Choose 9 or more scenic places you’d love to kiss your partner. Get a camera and a friend. Then, visit each place you want to kiss at. When you get there, have your friend take pictures of you and your partner kissing each other. Have your pictures developed and create either a memory photo album or have the pictures framed as a kissing collage.

  1. Go shopping and see who can find the strangest, tackiest, yet cheapest item for each other.
  2. Have a dinner where all the food and decorations are the same color.
  3. Buy a loaf of bread and feed the ducks at a local park.
  4. Go for a drive with no destination in mind and stop anywhere that looks interesting.
  5. Go to a flea market or swap meet and buy each other something for $1.

Fun Eating Dates

  1. Have a formal candlelight dinner at your house using your friends and family as waiters, chauffeurs, entertainment, etc.
  2. Have dinner “on a yacht” (in a friend’s boat that is parked for storage.)
  3. Have a progressive dinner with several other couples. Eat one course at each house and then go to the next one.
